This exceptional bracelet once belonged to a 90-year-old woman who spent a lifetime immersed in the Western way of life. A true cowgirl, she cherished fine jewelry nearly as much as she loved horses. This Dishta turquoise and silver bracelet, acquired decades ago in Ennis, Montana, was among her favorites.
She purchased it on credit from The Jefferson Valley Trading Post, then owned by Belle Jeffers. Despite a robbery that occurred later at the Jefferson Valley Trading Post, Ms Jeffers had hid the bracelet in a sock and it was safe and sound.
This piece holds a legacy of resilience, beauty, and Western tradition. One of my favorite photographs of my mom is the one where she is standing in front of the bucking chutes at the Montana State College Rodeo with the other winners sporting their trophy buckles. Mom wore that buckle most of her life. Mom has retained the matching earrings until she passes. Personally, I have loved knowing that she had these. She had married several ropers and nice things were not prevalent in our lives. At her request, I bought the entire collection. I'd be happy to sell them when and if that occurs. I have 10 great bracelets, 30 pairs of earrings, and several necklaces of similar quality.
